Day 23 of 31 Days: Dreams

One of my dreams is to buy a couple acres with an old farm house and a barn on it and completely redo them both.  Then I would turn the barn into a refurbished/own of a kind furniture shoppe with a workshop in the back.  Then I could just craft for a living.  How wonderful that would be.  This is what inspires me......

Day 22 of 31 Days: Getting My Laundry Room in Order

For awhile I have wanted to turn something in my house into a chalkboard, so why not somewhere that we all see several times a day.  Now I have a cute laundry room message center.

Day 21 of 31 Days: Wood Pumpkins

Isn't it amazing what you can turn a couple scraps into!?!

Day 20 of 31 Days: The Beauty of California

There are quite a few things about California that just drive me crazy, but I have realized that if I try to find the negative, I will.  But if I try to focus on the wonderful things that are around me, the beautiful California, then I enjoy living here a lot more.
My dad has a boat down in San Diego Bay and you can not beat the views of San Diego.  Here are some pictures from our last visit down there.

There were a lot of amazing boats out that day.

Day 19 of 31 Days: School Picture Collages

A couple weeks ago my kids brought home their new school pictures.  I usually put one in a frame, send grandma and grandpa one and then file the packet away with the past year pictures.  As I put them in the drawer I saw some of the older ones and was caught up by how much my kids have changed over the years.  So I decided to make a photo collage for each kid to show just how much they have grown.

Day 18 of 31: Getting rid of some dust

http://www.clipsahoy.com/clipart3/as6097.gif
Our ceiling fan has been running 24 hours a day for the last few months, but since the weather is getting a little cooler we can finally turn it off.  Do you know what a ceiling fan looks like after 6 months of spinning?  There was at least half an inch of dust stuck to the edges.  So I got on a chair and vacuumed all the gunk off the blades.  That got me thinking though, where else is there lots of dust that I just don't think about very much?  I found it, on top of the fridge, in the window sills, on the blinds, all the picture frames on the walls and on the lights in the bathroom.  It is probably a lot of other places, but once I cleaned it off those areas I was all dusted out.  I did find it one more place though...in the vacuum.  While I was on a dust quest I realized that the vacuum didn't have as much suction as it should so I opened it to change the bag and I think I could have made an entire body out of the dust and hair that came out of it.  Ewww!  But it is all clean now and I even put a scented bag in it.  It definitely fells a little more fresh in here.

Day 17 of 31: Now that internet is back I can get my 31 days back in order

Yipee, I got my Internet Back in Order.  You never realize just how much you need the internet until you don't have it.  Now it is catch up time as I try to get all my work and my 31 days back in order.  Sorry the last two posts have stunk, but I am just happy that I can finally sit down and work on something without losing connection or having to sit at a Starbucks to send something.

Day 16 of 31: Getting my Internet in Order

I have mentioned in the past that I teach online, so if my internet goes out I literally feel like I am going to have a heart attack.  Well, that has been my week.  I have not had reliable internet access at my house all week.  So for the last few days I have been spending a lot of time at wifi spots trying to get a little work done here and a little done there.  I may just have to catch up on the 31 days when I get internet back up at my house.  They should be out to fix it on Tuesday.

Day 15 of 31 Days: Getting A Vacation in Order

We decided that for our next year summer vacation we are going to take a trip to Lake Powell.  If you have never been to Lake Powell, you really need to go.  It is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in the world.  Since we are going to get a houseboat we have to get our plans going now.  If you don't book about 6 months in advance you may not find a good rental and the prices are better in advance as well.  Here are some pictures to show you why we would go through all that planning just to go to a lake.

Last time we went was about 4 years ago so I am very ready to go back.

Day 13 of 31: Getting the Closets in Order

My kids are growing way too fast.  I looked in my oldest son's closet the other day and it was full of clean, nice jeans, yet he had nothing to wear.  Why?...Because even though none of those pants are even 6 months old, he does not fit into any of them.  I think he has grown about 6 inches in the last 6 months.  So today we cleaned out the closets again.
That was just one closet, on to the other two.

Day 12 of 31: Getting my Cleaning in Order

Every week I clean my house, but I have been wanting to organize it a little and get more of a routine going.  I have seen lots of printables out there, but I decided that I would make my own routine to print out.  So here it is:
Now I am going to frame it and put it somewhere central with a whiteboard marker.  This way I can tackle things little bits at a time rather than spending a whole day once a week.

Day 11 of 31: Getting Some Fun Mommy Time In

Today was the first day that it really seemed like fall.  It was overcast, rainy and cold.  I thought I would do something special for my kids when they got home from school.  So I made some muffins and hot chocolate right before they got home.  What is better than amazing smells and yummy warm food on a cold day?

After we enjoyed our treat together my oldest son turned on the music player on his phone and we listened to that new Korean song 'Gandam Style (sp?). But the best part is that my kids can't hear that song without dancing like they do in the video which is a little like riding a horse....all around our kitchen.  Good times :)
