The end of 31 days: Getting work in order!

I have had a really crazy last three weeks.  I have mentioned before that I teach college online, however I have also been a high school science teacher since 2006.  Last year I taught Anatomy but I started it out as a long term sub and then got a temporary contract.  At the end of the year the principal told me he wanted me to stay with a permanent contract, but they would have to do what the district wanted to do.  Two days before school ended I found out that a teacher from another school in the district wanted the position at my school and since she had higher seniority she got the position and I was put back into the sub pool.  So this year I have been subbing for various schools in the district.  In the middle of October I was called to sub for someone during their maternity leave.  With that, teaching four online classes and trying to raise my two sons the best I can, I am having a hard time finding time for anything else.  I miss my blog and I miss my sleep.  I will try my best to keep up with things, but the good news is that the semester ends in December and then the other teacher will be back.  Sorry I did not get through all the 31 days, but I guess those days can all be gathered into a Getting Work In Order day.
Now if I can just find a way to get some sleep at night perhaps I won't fall asleep at the computer.

Day 23 of 31 Days: Dreams

One of my dreams is to buy a couple acres with an old farm house and a barn on it and completely redo them both.  Then I would turn the barn into a refurbished/own of a kind furniture shoppe with a workshop in the back.  Then I could just craft for a living.  How wonderful that would be.  This is what inspires me......

Day 22 of 31 Days: Getting My Laundry Room in Order

For awhile I have wanted to turn something in my house into a chalkboard, so why not somewhere that we all see several times a day.  Now I have a cute laundry room message center.

Day 21 of 31 Days: Wood Pumpkins

Isn't it amazing what you can turn a couple scraps into!?!

Day 20 of 31 Days: The Beauty of California

There are quite a few things about California that just drive me crazy, but I have realized that if I try to find the negative, I will.  But if I try to focus on the wonderful things that are around me, the beautiful California, then I enjoy living here a lot more.
My dad has a boat down in San Diego Bay and you can not beat the views of San Diego.  Here are some pictures from our last visit down there.

There were a lot of amazing boats out that day.

Day 19 of 31 Days: School Picture Collages

A couple weeks ago my kids brought home their new school pictures.  I usually put one in a frame, send grandma and grandpa one and then file the packet away with the past year pictures.  As I put them in the drawer I saw some of the older ones and was caught up by how much my kids have changed over the years.  So I decided to make a photo collage for each kid to show just how much they have grown.

Day 18 of 31: Getting rid of some dust

Our ceiling fan has been running 24 hours a day for the last few months, but since the weather is getting a little cooler we can finally turn it off.  Do you know what a ceiling fan looks like after 6 months of spinning?  There was at least half an inch of dust stuck to the edges.  So I got on a chair and vacuumed all the gunk off the blades.  That got me thinking though, where else is there lots of dust that I just don't think about very much?  I found it, on top of the fridge, in the window sills, on the blinds, all the picture frames on the walls and on the lights in the bathroom.  It is probably a lot of other places, but once I cleaned it off those areas I was all dusted out.  I did find it one more place though...in the vacuum.  While I was on a dust quest I realized that the vacuum didn't have as much suction as it should so I opened it to change the bag and I think I could have made an entire body out of the dust and hair that came out of it.  Ewww!  But it is all clean now and I even put a scented bag in it.  It definitely fells a little more fresh in here.
